Council Fishing Day

As a new scout season rolls around for the Northwest Georgia Council, we welcome our newest members of our scouting family and the public with our annual Council Fishing Day Roundup. One day a year we open our camp up to our Cub Scouts and their families, as well as the public, for a day of fishing and fun. This event went well with over 200 in attendance for the day and it would not have been possible without the turnout of Arrowmen to give cheerful service to our council and community. Hope to see you next summer for a day of cheerful service!

Ordeal Weekend will be a blast!

With summer starting to dial down, fall fellowship is getting closer every day!! This year Waguli has more exciting planned activities to ensure that every Arrowmen has an incredible time at fall fellowship. Continuing with this years, Birds through the ages theme, the lodge will be embarking to the Last Frontier and the wild, wild west. All Arrowmen are invited to test their skills and see how they would do in the wild, wild west. There is sure to be something for everyone while they face off against the ways of the past. Specifically, the lodge will be doing a RedNIght Zombio Sneak peak with a Battle Royale game, GAGA ball with a new pit, and Patch Trading and Patch Auction (with all proceeds going to the the Camp Lean to Fund. Plus many more action packed events! Don’t miss out on this amazing event filled with fun and fellowship.

Ordeal at Camp Sidney Dew 2018 Recap
Ordeal was truly amazing! Over 140 Arrowmen and candidates cheerfully served their council and camp. Camp Sidney Dew was in major need of cheerful service. Specifically, camp needed assistance working on the dinning hall freezer, drainage work, reorganizing the warehouse and the hill storage area, tree and limb work, and many more irksome task to help camp prepare for its 80th birthday.
Through this arduous labor, Camp Sidney Dew is further prepared to serve our council’s units. Furthermore, we were able to welcome over 50 new Ordeal members into the Order of the Arrow, and we also converted over 30 Ordeal members to Brotherhood membership.
Waguli Lodge also announced our 2017 Vigil Honor candidates: Devin Buam, Sid Gutierrez, Jacob McAdams, Timothy Procter, and Tammy Rogers. Again I would like to give a tremendous thank you goes out to all who worked to improved our camp, especially the new Ordeal members, and as always it is a huge honor to work alongside those who strive to provide cheerful service.

Get ready for Fall Fellowship in October!
We are going to have a great time along with a super Auction and patch trading before dinner.This will be an event you want to make sure you are at!
To Top that we are going to have an Auction! All proceeds go to the Camp's Lean Too construction fund to build more new lean toos. This will be an outstanding and much needed addition to Camp Sidney Dew because it will greatly improve the scouting experience and facilities especially for the Camp Sidney Dew Summer Camp and year round camping.
When registration goes up you can pick to enjoy the whole weekend or just come for the patch trading ,dinner, and the Auction!

OA Tactical registration is up, so don’t wait; sign up to serve the Lodge in an incredible and amazing way! Each member of OA Tactical will be able to show by example what Scouting’s National Honor Society really is all about and an opportunity to encourage current inactive members of the Lodge to rejoin in our future endeavors while also giving positive reinforcement to Scouts and leaders who are potential future Lodge members. OAT will be a different creature at this years Zombie O Rednite event by exclusively sponsoring the Battle Royale Activity (and yes each game will start out with 100 scouts till they get to one Winner!).
To be a Member of 2018 OA Tactical a Lodge member must:
1. Be an active (dues paid) member of Waguli Lodge 318.
2. Attend at least one Waguli Lodge event in 2018.
3. Register for Zombie O Rednite as OAT
4. Attend OA Tactical Training at Fall Fellowship weekend on Saturday.

NOAC Recap from the Waguli Contingent
Waguli was well represented at the National Order of the Arrow Conference at the University of Indiana.

It began with a long van ride that was well worth the trip.
Mornings were for training which revealed new perspectives on our favorite parts of the Order of the Arrow .The afternoons were always filled with fun and exciting stuff to do.The evenings had an exciting live themed event in a huge arena. Each of the four shows dazzled us in a different way, but hammered home a common theme of urging our brothers to rededicate themselves to Scouting’s values. From the ceremonial parts of Monday’s show, to Tuesday’s celebration of “keepers of the flame,” to Wednesday’s journey through The Vault, to Friday’s incredible theme show, everyone was entertained. Throughout the entire week, everyone was given “Seek” wristbands. These were used to click with other people to earn points in a competition, and while walking around campus,We could often hear the cry of ‘Seek? Seek? Seek?’ in the background. It was a great way to connect people, especially in crowded places like the transportation buses.All in all, this NOAC was a great experience, and it sets an incredibly high standard for the next one in 2020.
