Our Refuge on the Nam Ou River
This weekend, we took a group to Nong Khiaw for the opening of our yoga shala at Mandala Ou Resort. In addition to building the main resort, Nic and his team have been working hard to build us the yoga shala of our dreams. The result is something that's hard to describe in words. It just feels right. From the moment you approach the shala, you feel as if you've arrived. Coming down the steps, the unspoiled view takes your breath away and immediately, your thoughts are silenced. All that remains is that feeling in the pit of your stomach that says "I am truly at peace." And the only thing left that can make this perfection is a yoga practice and meditation.
We'd like to make the shala a space for healing and inspiration, where the positive intentions of those who have practiced before become the energy source that benefits all those who enter the shala thereafter. During our candlelight opening ceremony and meditation session, we asked everyone present to focus on sharing their wishes with the people around them as well as giving a small blessing to the shala. Our first yoga practice was held the morning after the opening ceremony and was again, a confirmation of how magical our little refuge on the Nam Ou River is.
For those already signed up for our retreat, this is what you have to look forward to. For those not signed up yet, perhaps you'll now consider. Thanks to everyone who came out to share your energy with us. Retreats take place monthly from December to March.
