What's Happening
At SSAR
SSAR members were once again on first aid duties at Ebon Stables for the Saskatoon Classic horse show from Sept 4 - 7. Thanks to Sherry Buller, Don Brophy, Shelley Ballard-McKinlay, Mark Wells, Stefani Longueil, Sean Taylor and Shawn Bursey for attending and to Rebecca Basset for her organizational work behind the scenes.
On Sept 10 we had a record number of members attend STARS landing zone training. Thanks to Luc Duval for the presentation and tour and to the crew that was working that evening for showing us their "office."
We had a great Basic Searcher overnight weekend on Sept 12-13 at Beaver Creek Conservation area. This was a new training location for us and we'd like to send a big thanks to Gillian May from Meewasin Valley Authority for all the information she provided to our group about the area. The weather cooperated fully and was a great location for our near-water search training. Thanks to Rebecca Basset for leading the training and to Aaron Anton, Don Brophy, Sean Taylor, Nelson Martell, Shelly Ottley, Louis Bossaer and Shelley Ballard-McKinlay for assisting.
** Don't forget to register for the SAR conference being held in Saskatoon! An opportunity like this doesn't come along very often so don't miss it! Details and link to registration below.
