Happy New Year! 2016 was a year of great success for the Marks Gray Immigration Team and our clients. We’re excited to make 2017 even better.

As part of that mission, we will continue to fill these newsletters with useful information – including the latest changes to immigration law – and stories of success meant to inspire you and keep you working toward your goals.

As always, thank you for your readership, support, and referrals.

Radio Appearance

I had the pleasure of appearing with Ericka Curran, professor at Florida Coastal School of Law, on the Melissa Ross Show on WJCT on December 14th. We discussed DACA and other immigration hot topics and resources.

New 60-Day Grace Period

Starting January 17, 2017, skilled workers in E-1, E-2, E-3, H-1B, H1-B1, L-1, and TN status will have sixty days (or until their petition expiration, whichever is shorter) to change jobs or employers when their employment ends before the end of their authorized validity period.

This new grace period was created to allow nonimmigrants to pursue new employment and an extension of their nonimmigrant status without facing any negative immigration consequences.

Latest Updates on the New Form I-9

After January 21, 2017, employers must use the most recent version of Form I-9 for all new employees and any Section 3 reverifications.

Find out the most important recent updates about the new form.
