Learn from TRUE pros.

Education is a key part of our coffee philosophy. We offer several regular training opportunities for both hobbyists and coffee professionals.

Free monthly classes:

Our cupping lab hosts two classes every month, one in espresso technique and one in the art of manual brewing. These are free, open to the public and fill up on a first come, first serve basis. Check out the calendar or email to find out about our upcoming schedule.

On-site training:

It's important to have a staff that can make coffee with expertise and confidence. Fortunately, our metro-area wholesale customers are eligible for a free visit from a Barista Guild-certified staff member. Assemble your whole crew for a intensive espresso training session covering extraction technique, drink preparation and equipment maintenance. We can also offer sessions on manual brewing and customer service on an as-needed basis.

For more information or to set up a training, contact We know scheduling can be hectic, so please get in touch with us a few weeks before you'd like to train so we can find a time that works best for everyone.

Coffee Camp:

This semi-annual event includes lectures, workshops and guided practice and is designed to give attendees all the knowledge they'll need to brew consistently better coffee, pull consistently better espresso, and better understand the science and economics that bring coffee from seed to cup. Registration for this all-day event is only open at specific times of the year, and we charge and attendance fee ($60) to cover the cost of labor, materials, food and a bunch of take-home goodies for our guests. Anyone can sign up, but previous experience with professional coffee equipment is highly recommended.

Interested in mixing up your brew arsenal? We've got a ton of fantastic new coffees for you to try. Here are some highlights.

(Want to know more? Click on the name to go directly to the coffee's page on our website!)

Guatemala Antigua

Of all the new coffees, we're most excited about our full-city Guatemala for two reasons. One, its the funnest, boldest, most fruit-forward coffee we've seen all year. It tastes sweet and tart, with a soft, pillowy body that washes down clean and easy.

Two, it comes from a direct trade with our exciting new partners at De la Gente, a non-profit working specifically with two coops in Guatemala to produce great coffee and improve the lives of the people in its communities.

All of De la Gente’s profits go directly to the farmers, giving them the opportunity to invest in education, healthcare, housing, and nutrition for their families. They facilitate farmer education classes that help increase and improve coffee production, and provide access to processing equipment, microfinance, clean drinking water, shade trees, and many other necessities.

Check out De La Gente's website to learn more about their mission.

Kenya Rungeto

This years single-bag import of Kenya hails from the Kiangoi Wet Mill of the Rungeto Farmers Coopertive near Mt. Kenya. This wet mill has been UTZ Certified since 2009, a process similar to fair trade and organic certifications that promotes sustainable practices and better opportunities for farmers and their families,

We really enjoy this coffee’s sweet and savory tones, notes of tart cherry and blackberry, and smooth, lingering finish. Our offering is extremely limited, though, so act fast if you want to get your hands on a bag.

Red Tiger Espresso

Finally, meet the newest member of our espresso line-up. This blend is a non-traditional take on the classic espresso flavor, focusing on bright citrus acidity and intense sweetness, while still retaining the full-body and complex balance that consumers expect. Light-roasted espresso makes for amazing lattes and cappuccinos. You might be surprised how much you dig it.

We're headed to Wisconsin next month for Hungry Turtle Weekend!

Our manual brewmeister, Tyler, will be visiting the Hungry Turtle Food Coop in Amery on November 15th to demonstrate and sample some of our favorite brewing methods for home or retail coffee. Our presentation is one of many taking place all weekend long, centered around sustainable living and land stewardship and connection with farmers, chefs, educators, artists, and more. Many of the events are free, but you'll have to sign up to reserve your spot. And while you're there, grab a tasty organic lunch from the Amery Farm Table, one of the newest and brightest stars in the True Stone world.

Have a suggestion? We want to hear it.

We're always trying to get better at what we do. Send us your questions, comments, concerns, ideas, unpublished novels, philosophical rants, or whatever! We'll read it.
