Robot Robber targeting Louis Botha Avenue

CAP would like to alert all motorists to an individual that is targeting motorists at various robot intersections along Louis Botha Avenue, conducting armed robberies in the public space. The suspect, armed with a firearm, will approach you under the guise of asking for change or food. Whilst engaging with the suspect, he will reveal his firearm and demand valuables.

The suspect has been spotted at various intersections along Louis Botha Avenue at various times of the day. The suspect operates Monday – Sunday, constantly changing locations throughout the day. Of the incidents reported to us, the majority are taking place between
 7am – 9.30am as well as 5.30 – 10.30pm.

On occasion, the suspect makes use of an accomplice. One of the suspects can be easily identified by a clear injury below his left eye, as well as puffy cheeks with possible acne. 

We advise all motorists travelling along Louis Botha Avenue to take cognisance of the above and practice the defensive behaviour recommendations mentioned below:
  • Whilst driving, avoid being distracted by your passengers, the radio or your cellphone.
  • Keep a safe distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you.
  • Keep all your valuables out of sight- your handbag should be stored in your boot or under your seat.
  • Keep your windows closed to create a barrier between yourself and a potential robber.
  • Be highly cautious of anyone that approaches you whilst idle at a robot.
