The Calestous Juma Innovation and Resource Hub (CJ Hub) in Port Victoria, Kenya, is scheduled to open in December!
We will be offering training in computer skills, entrepreneurship, and other courses geared to support capacity building and teach job-relevant skills. This is in response to needs highlighted by the community.
Hundreds of Port Victoria residents will have the opportunity to improve their knowledge, skills, and consequently their economic opportunities during the 18-month pilot period. On the strength of this pilot, we will continue to expand our programs and our impact, and we hope you will join us in making CJ's vision a reality.
We are pleased to announce that the African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) will support the CJ Hub by supplying 10 computers and other networking infrastructure, and Taiwan Africa International Service Association (TAISA) will support with 2 computers and will be implementing a pilot Train-the-Trainer program in coding for select candidates.
In addition, CJLF is looking into joint ventures to offer aquaculture training courses to women. Later this month, our Executive Director will visit Kenya to take part in the Aquatic Resources and Blue Economy Conference (ARBEC) and the CJ Hub opening.
With your support, we will create the institutional and individual capacity Bunyala residents require to enhance both their quality of life and the region's ecological resilience.
Please consider a gift to support our work.
