Editing webpages is about be very different.

Dear<<First Name>>,

You're receiving this message because you have an account with the college's web content management system.

The News

April 11 is the target date for implementing a new website design. From that date, if you login to edit a webpage on, you will see a different editing environment. If you only edit intranet pages, you won't be impacted.

Implications for You

You may recall back in September, we had some "town hall" meetings about the new design. One of the biggest changes is that it will be "responsive". That means as you resize your browser window, the appearance of the site will transform to fit the window. That's a big deal for you editors because the same will happen while you're editing! I can tell you from my own experience, this is disorienting at first.

Another implication is that when we implement the new design on April 11, the formatting on your pages may be broken and in need of fixing. To prepare, we will have the new design implemented in a "testing area" where we can make fixes and then copy those, page by page, into the main site on/after Aprill 11. We're working to have the "testing area" ready as soon as possible to give us as much lead time as possible for fixing our content.

How to Prepare

Next week, I will hold some information sessions about the new design and editing environment. These will be your chance to take it for a test drive, see how it works and ask questions. Please vote for the days/times you'd like to attend a session.

The Good News

The new design is nice! It will work well on any device. I will be setting up a new style guide showing several new visual and structural elements you'll be able to use to enhance your webpages. New elements include:

  • stylized quotes for making a testimonial statement stand out
  • stylized boxes with images for testimonials
  • new types of image galleries and image sliders
  • stylized way to show news headlines for program pages
  • new type of contact info boxes
  • pre-styled tables that will work on any device
  • tabs within a page
  • accordions within a page

and more...
