Help Us Celebrate!

It's our 10th anniversary and we're celebrating BIG!

We'll have yummy food, live music all afternoon (with multiple bands), dancing, and lots of other fun surprises at our 2017 Walk for Wind River on Saturday, May 20th.

All are welcome and encouraged to help us keep our retreats and programs free of charge to survivors!

NEW this year:
  • Teams!   Increase your "Fun Quotient" by grabbing a bunch of Friends, Family or Co-workers and forming a team for this year's walk!
  • All Day Party with LIVE Music!  To celebrate 10 years we want to say "THANK YOU!" to all of our Walkers and incredible people who have supported us over the past 10 years with a HUGE day-time party immediately following the Walk!
  • Fundraising Help!   To allow more people to participate we have lowered our minimum fundraising to $225 AND will be providing fundraising support from our own Maggie Fisher!

Another Busy Winter!

The past few months have been full of activity for the Wind River family. Some of our highlights include:
  • 1st Wind River Angels Christmas - We connected our Wind River Angels with some of our friends who needed a bit of extra love this Holiday season. As usual -- we were overwhelmed by the generosity and love shared by all those who participated. We'll definitely keep this going!
  • Wind River Holiday Meet-Ups - One at Legion Brewing in Charlotte brought Wind River family and friends together for pizza, beer, and holiday cheer, and another in Asheville which included dinner and bluegrass music!
  • Wind River Candle Lighting Ceremony - We celebrated and remembered those who have moved on this past year with our annual ceremony down by the waterfall.
  • Healing & Release Workshop - Maureen Marhayla led a group of Wind River folks through a special ceremony to release the negative and to invite in the light. Thank you to Karen Williams at Centered Wellness/Yoga for Life for sharing her space!
  • Planning -  There is a LOT of planning that goes into our Spring Retreats and Walk - we do that during the cold months!
And as always, we continue to work with our survivors in many ways including nutritional coaching, ongoing support, and more. Follow us on Facebook to find out about upcoming meet-ups and events.

Candle Lighting Ceremony

At the end of each year we take an evening to light candles and remember the Wind River friends we've lost.   We read the names out loud of ALL of our Wind River Alumni who have passed over the years, plus names of loved ones given to us by you, our extended family.
This year we have added to our remembrance Wind River alumni who passed in 2016:

Lori Bourscheid, Jane Ransel, Sue Falco, Cecile Domigue, Reba Whaley, Leta Withers, Kathrine Morgan, Megan Currie, Gale Freidenreich, Cathy Grant, Chrystel Mann, Denise Sharpe, Kristen Spurlock, Debra Jesensky, Raquel Wernicke, Pete Petrie, Marcy Rammel, Leslyn Bodine, Yvette Roszell, Jeannie Burgess, Sarah McCurry, Pam Burress and Molli Richwagon.
We are blessed to have known them and honored to remember them...

For short stories about each of these amazing individuals, feel free to visit our In Loving Memory page.

Thank You, Colon Cancer Coalition and
Get Your Rear in Gear!!

Wind River would like to thank the Colon Cancer Coalition  and Get Your Rear in Gear for their generous grant that will allow us to promote colon cancer screening and to serve the needs of colon cancer survivors.

Join us Saturday, March 4th at Independence Park in Charlotte for the Get Your Rear in Gear 5K. We would love volunteers to help us represent Wind River at this event. Email us directly if you'd like to help out.
