Swan Tuscany Challenge
25-29 May, Marina di Scarlino (ITA)
After four days and eleven races, the regatta rankings were still surprisingly open, especially in the newer ClubSwan 36 fleet. Congratulations to both Leonardo Ferragamo, owner of ClubSwan 50 Cuordileone, and, Andrea Lacorte, owner of ClubSwan 36 Vitamina, the overall winners of the 2021 Swan Tuscany Challenge.
Leonardo Ferragamo said the key had been consistency throughout the regatta, adding: “We are very excited, happy and satisfied, because we worked hard for this result. We will have to fight very hard to maintain this position – it’s not going to be easy. There is a continuous evolution from all the teams, and this racing is really fabulous.”
Andrea Lacorte, owner of Vitamina, paid tribute to his crew after the nail-biting victory. “The feeling is just one: we’re very happy about the regatta. We were consistent, with only three wins in the 11 races and I have to commend my crew – I’m very happy with them. We were all very tense before the last race, but fully concentrated on keeping G-Spot close to us.”

Splendido Mare Cup
5-9 May, Portofino (ITA)
The successful first edition of the Regate di Primavera – Splendido Mare Cup was held from 5 to 9 May 2021, against the beautiful backdrop of the Gulf of Tigullio. All eyes were upon the 15 maxis racing, including Swan 98 DRIFTER CUBE, Swan 60 ULYSSES PORTOFINO and Swan 78 AZZURRO. The teams enjoyed three thrilling days of racing with extremely varying weather conditions.

Rolex Capri Sailing Week
10-20 May, Capri (ITA)
The Finnish shipyard dominates in each of the three heats of the event: Swan 65 Shirlaf won the Rolex Capri Sailing Week Trophy.
ClubSwan 42 Fantaghirò was awarded the title of ORC-B European Champion, closely followed by the 42s Mela and Be Wild.
Swan 45 Fever won silver in ORC-A in 2021 European Championship..

30 May - 2 June, Punta Ala (ITA)
The regatta took place starting from Livorno, finishing in Punta Ala, sailing around Elba Island. Out of a fleet of 252 attending yachts, 14 Swan are attending, among them Swan 48 Mia, which took bronze at the last edition of Rolex Middle Sea Race. With extraordinarily favorable weather conditions, the fleet could complete the course quickly and the final scoring saw a great success for Nautor’s Swan, with ClubSwan 42 FANTAGHIRO’, recent ORC European Champion, leading the pack in ORC overall

Sparkman & Stephens Rendez-Vous

“The S&S Swan Association has reached its 20th year of activity, and what better way to celebrate such an important milestone than to gather a sizeable fleet of S&S Swans and get together and race at the S&S Swan Rendez-vous?
Despite the difficult year for the whole world we are proud to have received the enthusiastic registration of no less than 25 Sparkman & Stephens Swans, from the small 36 to the majestic 65, who will meet in Marciana Marina, the most beautiful and pathos-filled village on the Island of Elba, to race together between June 23rd and 26th.
Hosted, as has become tradition, by the Circolo della Vela Marciana Marina, the Swans will be moored on a quay dedicated to them, and their Crews and Owners, after having exchanged pleasant and reciprocal visits on board, with toasts and pleasantries, will fight relentlessly in the blue waters in front of the beautiful town, but with the fair play typical of those who are used to sailing aboard the most beautiful Ladies of the Sea.”, states Matteo Salamon, president of Sparkman & Stephens Association.

Milanto World Sailing Expedition: the only boat from the World ARC 2020-21 to complete the circumnavigation.
When Valerio Bardi, skipper of Milanto - a Nautor Swan 46 MKII, started the circumnavigation with the World ARC in January 2020, the future was something that could still be planned. By April, the extensive impact of the pandemic had reached the rally when the boats arrived in Tahiti. Most of the participants abandoned their circumnavigation and crews were repatriated.
Milanto decided to continue sailing, finding the best possible route in challenging circumstances. By this time, many of the planned stops were closed to maritime traffic, so from Fiji Milanto sailed to Indonesia on a 4,000NM passage with just three crew. Then after crossing the Indian Ocean and navigating the coast of South Africa, arriving in Cape Town in time for Christmas felt like a real achievement.
In the end it became a real Odyssey! It was not easy, but it was not impossible. Their determination was rewarded as Milanto was able to visit places during a unique moment in time, landing in nearly deserted locations due to the total absence of tourism.
