Kinoscope Autumn 2017
New Collection: 1920s London Nightlife Collection
Our new collection of dazzling 20s films contains footage shot on 35mm and nitrate film. This includes gorgeous travelogues and sophisticated London nightlife, complete with debutantes and flappers. Other films display dance crazes from around the world including Apache, Hula and the Highland Swing, plus performances in music halls and burlesque clubs. Here are some of our favourite moments.
From the Blog: 1980s Soundsystem
Soundsystem culture grew up in Kingston ghettos and came to Britain in the 1960s. Developing an underground music scene, West-Indian immigrants connected with their cultural roots in warehouses, in parks and on street corners. As our 80s South London collection shows, combining dub, electronic and reggae sounds created an immersive sonic experience. See clips from the collection on our blog post
