Cashless Nigeria – Leading by example
New studies by the Better Than Cash Alliance document Nigeria’s digital journey. In-depth case studies on businesses transitioning to digital find that the transition from cash to digital payments is progressing at very different speeds in different sectors of the economy and by different payment types. The Nigerian Government is leading by example, by making all of its pension payments, supplier payments and payments to state and municipal governments electronically, almost two thirds of its salary and social subsidy payments digitally.

New Practical Tools for Digital Financial Inclusion
The Better Than Cash Alliance launched eight toolkits at last week’s Asia Pacific Financial Inclusion Summit, in Manila. The Better Than Cash Alliance toolkits help governments, companies and international organizations plan their shift from cash to digital payments and include a complete suite of practical tools to support the shift. In addition, MicroSave launched its Direct Benefits Transfer Readiness Assessment Toolkit is being used by some ministries in India to facilitate digitization and direct benefit transfers. Also, Net Hope & USAID’s Toolkit released a new toolkit to guide development organizations in transitioning cash payments to digital. .
