Makers' Workshop is a place that honours Burnie's history, makers, innovators and artists.

This contemporary structure is a new concept for Burnie, part contemporary museum, part arts centre and Visitor Information Centre.

Volunteers at the information counter will help you find your way around Burnie and beyond.

Discover what makes Burnie tick from the interpretive displays or simply appreciate the stunning giant sepia images taken by Wolfgang Seivers, still recognised as one of the world's finest industrial and architectural photographers.

One of the main attractions is Creative Paper - you are invited to try your hand at making paper under the guidance of experienced and informative paper makers.

The Old Dubbo Gaol is completely restored and home to a large display of animatronics and holographic displays which provide a realistic and fascinating insight into a bygone era of barbaric prison life.

Cockatoo Run Heritage Train Trips

Heritage diesel hauled rail tours from Sydney Central Station to the historic NSW Southern Highlands towns of Robertson and Moss Vale, via the beautiful Illawarra South Coast and Wollongong.

From Wollongong the train tackles the steep grade of the Illawarra escarpment through magnificent rainforest, past waterfalls and with splendid coastal views.
