"How Does a Biosand Filter Work?"

This question was recently asked by one of our loyal supporters. She was both delighted and in awe as she learned the details about the powerful impact sand offers to eliminate harmful pathogens in water.

We want to be sure you understand the basics of a biosand water filter. After all, it's your invaluable support that empowers us to install these filters in homes and schools where they are most needed.

Optimizing Nature's Water Supply

With a goal of helping communities gain access to a sustainable water source, our WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) training team in Honduras recently conducted our first Rainwater Harvesting Workshop.

The workshop provides instruction on the concept and technology of rainwater harvesting for domestic use and how it fits into the global vision of an appropriate supply in developing countries, both in rural and urban settings.

The workshop was a success, and the participants' hands-on work to build the rainwater harvesting container was completed just in time to officially test the tank and catchment system!

PWW Team Shares Knowledge

The PWW team has been creating an impact in more than just Haiti and Honduras.
From a water quality testing demonstration with elementary students in Washington DC, to a teacher hygiene education program delivered to a global online audience, to a myriad of activities surrounding the importance of safe, clean water in honor of Earth Day, our staff is working far and wide to share our experiences and knowledge with others with a goal of expanding awareness and understanding of the importance of safe water, sanitation and hygiene on our planet.
