With funding from the Scialog: Negative Emissions Science Initiative, Yayuan Liu, who recently joined the department, will lead a cross-disciplinary team focused on removing greenhouse gases from Earth’s atmosphere and oceans. 
Awards and Recognition

Marc Ostermeier elected fellow of the AAAS


Citing his outstanding contributions to the principles of natural evolution, protein engineering, directed evolution, and protein evolution, Marc Ostermeier was elected a 2021 fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in the Biological Sciences Section.
 
Jamie Spangler receives NSF CAREER Award and  Damon Runyon-Rachleff Innovation Award

Jamie Spangler received the CAREER Award for her project, “Engineered multi-specific antibodies to interrogate and manipulate immune checkpoint protein trafficking.” She received the Damon Runyon-Rachleff Innovation Award for her project, "Engineering multispecific down-regulating antibodies to advance cancer immunotherapy.”
 

Department receives JHU Diversity Recognition Award
 

The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering was recognized for their overall commitment to diversity and inclusion and for their efforts to ensure accountability and transparency in their reporting of their progress.
