PLP day (Target Setting) – Friday 19th January 2018
You will receive by text a link to book an interview time with your child’s form tutor for PLP day on Friday 19th January. As with last year, bookings are now made via the internet to save time for the office staff. Booking links are available by clicking on the Booking Forms link on the left hand side of the Parents Page of the school website if you have not yet received a link via text or booked your appointment. You will need to select the booking form for your child’s tutor group. Please note there is a tiny possibility of an appointment slot being double booked if bookings are made for the same time slot within a second of each other. We will contact you if this has occurred and arrange an alternate time that suits you. Only years 7, 8, 9 will be in school on this day, as we will be having an alternative curriculum so that teachers can hold the meetings with parents. We would like all pupils in years 10, 11,12,13,14 to come into school with their parents / carers to review the plan and set new targets.
Signing pupils in
For pupils being dropped off to school, we would be very grateful if parents/carers could please remember to sign their children in to the correct folder. If a child appears to be absent we will always call home to check. This is for health and safety reasons because we are responsible for each child during the time they are in school. Therefore it is essential we know which children are present at school. If you bring your child in late or collect them early for any reason, please make sure that School Reception are aware that your child has arrived or left school.
Medical Appointments
It would be very helpful if parents could give the school advance warning of any medical appointments their child may have. If we know when you need to collect your child early we can ensure that they are ready when you arrive so that you are not kept waiting. If the appointment is in the morning and the child will not be in until later or will be out all day then we need not bother you with telephone call asking where your child is. Wherever possible please send in a copy of your child's appointment card or letter if you have one. Thank you for your support with this. Please try and make appointments in school holidays where this is possible.
Healthy Food
For pupils who bring a packed lunch, please send in a healthy lunch - please do not send any sugary food or drinks. Our school lunches now include freshly made smoothies. To view details of our school dinners and Healthy Eating program, see our website.
Makaton
Makaton is a language programme that is used in conjunction with speech to aid the pupils’ understanding of language and help them communicate with each other more effectively. Makaton is used across the school in lessons and break times. We would love for you to learn some signs so that you can sign with your child. See the We Talk Makaton website for more.
