Dear Friends and Supporters,
March has been a busy month here at New Hope! We’ve welcomed new children, new volunteers and several guests and visitors all throughout the month. All the while, our children have been keeping busy making great use of our playground now that spring time is here.
We are very grateful this month for a large donation from our friend Carina Lau from Hong Kong. This donation was very timely as it came the same week as we were asked to take in 6 children from another home in Beijing which temporarily had to close. These admissions brought our bed number in Beijing from 48 back up to 54.
Despite this very generous donation, we do have some other pressing needs that have come as a bit of a surprise this month. The first is for medical support for Charlotte, a little 3-year-old girl admitted to MBHOH in Luoyang in February of this year, then transferred to our Beijing home. Charlotte has a liver condition which will mean that she needs a liver transplant as soon as a suitable match is found. At the moment she is in Tianjin Hospital awaiting that transplant. Please keep Charlotte in your prayers, that she would remain well as she waits. The cost for the transplant and follow up treatment will be in the region of US $40,000. We really would appreciate any support you can give towards these costs.

The second need we have is for a new heating unit for our Shunyi home. The government has recently banned the use of coal in Beijing to control pollution in the area. This means we have to replace our existing coal boiler with a new gas-fired one. We have obtained quotations for the new boiler and we need US $45,000 to cover the cost. Again any help towards this would be really appreciated.
With Love and Gratitude,
Robin, Joyce and the New Hope Staff
