Pope Francis' Message for World Refugee Day - 20 June 2016

On 19 June 2016, speaking after the Angelus, Pope Francis challenges us, saying, “Tomorrow is World Refugee Day, promoted by the UN, which has as its theme this year: “With refugees. We stand together with those who are forced to flee”. Refugees are people like everyone else, but people who have lost their homes, jobs, relatives and friends due to war. Their stories and their faces call us to renew our commitment to create peace in justice. For this reason, we want to be with them: to meet them, welcome them, listen to them, so as to become peacemakers together according to God’s will”.

ACBC Statement - A Vote for the Voiceless

On 2 July 2016, Australians are again going to the polls. During the election campaign, both sides of the politics discussed their economic credentials in a bid to influence people and earn voters’ trust.

The Catholic Bishops of Australia released a statement for the upcoming federal election to represent the people who are discarded in this throwaway culture.
