Congratulations to all of the graduating seniors!
This Sunday: Atlanta Streets Alive!  This will be the longest route yet - Eastside meets Westside. You'll be able to traverse car-free streets from Underwood Hills to Decatur. Starts at 2pm & Howell Mill will be CLOSED from Chattahoochee southward starting at 12pm. Click the pic for more info.
UHNA Beautification and Park Chair Updates courtesy of Steven Lindsay:
  1. Thank you to our lovely volunteers doing a great job beautifying the entrance sign at Collier and Woodland Hills!
  2. Last week Heather and I had a very encouraging meeting with Parks and Recreation Design team and Park Pride. Some of our equipment can be repaired and we were promised prompt action on this and other items that have been pending for a while. Please continue to contact parkscustomerservice@atlantaga.gov and our local reps CM Dickens and Hillis with any concerns.
  3. This month our regular 2nd Saturday Greenspace Guardians project with Trees Atlanta will be at Mantissa Park Nature Reserve. Saturday June 8, 9am-noon. Meet corner of Mantissa Street and Cambria. NOTE: we will assign people to other tasks in the main park if we have a surplus of volunteers (a nice problem to have!). Come at any time but please register with Trees Atlanta. Refreshments provided by UHNA.
  4. If you have ideas for beatifying other parts of Underwood Hills or would like to participate at times other than the weekend workdays, please contact me directly: Steven Lindsay singingotter@gmail.com or 678.697.5284
New Bulk Trash Pick-Up Rules

You now have to schedule bulk up at least 24 hours ahead of time.  It MUST be done via ATL311 (download the free app, www.atl311.com or call 311 within the city limits).
Inspiritus, formerly Lutheran Services of Georgia, has launched a new program focused on ending youth homelessness in Atlanta. The first program of its kind in Georgia, the Thrive! Youth Host Home program provides supportive, short-term housing in residential homes for youth ages 18-24 experiencing homelessness.

The Thrive! Youth Host Home program creates welcoming spaces for youth experiencing homelessness to live safely in a home setting from a weekend to nine months. This program focuses on youths who identify as LGBTQ AND youths who have aged out of foster care. In addition to housing, youth in the program will receive ongoing support, including education and employment assistance and other case management services. Youth referrals will be coordinated through City of Atlanta’s coordinated entry system.

Inspiritus is currently seeking compassionate individuals and families in the Metro-Atlanta area who are interested in opening their hearts and their homes to youth experiencing homelessness. If you have an extra bedroom and are over the age of 25, you’re eligible to host. For more information on getting involved with Thrive! Youth Host Homes, visit  weinspirit.org/thrive or contact Inspiritus Youth Host Home recruiter Fran Patrick at fran.patrick@weinspirit.org.
Security Patrol renewals are coming up in the next couple of months! There are several ways to renew - via our website, check, or by PayPal. Please remember to pay your PayPal invoice when you receive it, and for those wanting to join the patrolled community, please email us for more information. For any current members in need of a new Security Patrol sign, please email us.
