GGHH Reaches New Membership Milestone-  Over 800 Members Representing More Than 25,000 Hospitals and Health Centers

The first quarter of 2017 has been an exciting and productive one for GGHH. In just four months we have surpassed our membership target for the entire year and reached an important milestone in the growth of the network: Over 800 GGHH members representing more than 25,000 hospitals and health centers around the globe.

GGHH now has 805 members in 47 countries on 6 continents who represent the interests of over 25,600 hospitals and health centers

While hospitals and health systems from every continent continue to join GGHH, much of the recent growth comes from a new partnership with the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) and the creation of the Health and Environment Leadership Platform (HELP).

2017 HCWH Europe Annual General Meeting & GGHH Europe members meeting

On the 4th and 5th of May 2017, the HCWH Europe Annual General Meeting and GGHH Europe members meeting took place at Vivantes Hospital Neukölln in Berlin. The two day meeting served as a opportunity to learn about the innovative work taking place at member institutions around Europe. It also provided important space for networking and collaboration amongst and with members as the European network of members continues to grow and strengthen. Read more

Australia | Field Trip to GGHH Member During World Congress on Public Health

As part of this year’s World Congress on Public Health that took place in Melbourne, Australia from April 3-7, Western Health, a member of GGHH, hosted a field trip showcasing their environmental sustainability program. Delegates from Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia and England participated in the visit to learn how Western Health is planning to achieve their strategic aim of “being socially responsible and using resources sustainably.” Read more

Asia | Green Hospitals Conference 2017

The 2017 Green Hospitals Asia Conference will take place in Taipei, Taiwan on October 20 and 21, 2017. The conference is organized in partnership with the Health Promotion Administration of Taiwan’s Ministry of Health, the Taiwan Society of Health Promotion Hospitals, and Tzu Chi Medical Foundation. Once again the conference will bring together health systems, health organizations, and hospitals from across the region to tackle the role of health care in addressing environmental and public health issues.  Read more

Brazil | First Amazon Seminar on Healthy Hospitals

The first Amazon Seminar on Healthy Hospitals took place in Belem, Brazil on March 14 and 15, 2017. The event brought together health sector representatives from the region to learn about and discuss the they currently face and will face due to climate change.  Organized by Projeto Hospitais Saudáveis (PHS), HCWH’s strategic partner in Brazil, and by GGHH member, Hospital Público Estadual Galileu (Pró-Saúde – Associação Beneficente de Assistência Social e Hospitalar), the event aimed to raise awareness and commitment of health institutions to the challenges of climate change and waste management. Nepal | Symposium on Health Care Waste Management

The Association of Non-Government Hospital (ANGHOS), a new GGHH member in Nepal, organized a Symposium on Health Care Waste Management at Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology, in Kathmandu, Nepal on 2 April 2017. The symposium was part of the 2nd Infection Control Assessment Workshop that took place from 30 March to April 2. Read more

South Africa | GGHH Members Host the Community Planning Meeting

The 4th GGHH Community Planning Meeting in South Africa took place from the 20th to 23rd February 2017 in Pietermaritzburg.  Thirteen representatives from member institutions from four provinces across South Africa participated: Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Free State and Western Cape. Read more

Dr. Peter Orris Receives Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Global Health

We are proud to announce that Dr. Peter Orris, Senior Adviser to HCWH, has received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Global Health from the World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA) during the 15th World Congress on Public Health that took place in Melbourne, Australia, from April 3-7, 2017.
