YX Asset Recovery

Joe Zhang, 57, is a former research analyst, investment banker and corporate executive. Retired, he sits on the boards of directors of such companies as Fosun International (656.HK), Logan Property (3380.HK), and Luye Pharmaceutical (2186.HK).

Joe is the former Vice-chairman of YX Asset Recovery, the largest credit card debt restructuring firm in China with 13,000 employees. With 29 call centres around China, they focus on long-dated consumer debts at state banks.

He started his career as an economist in 1986 at the central bank, the People’s Bank of China. 
In 1989, the central bank sent him to the Australian National University to pursue higher degrees. He then taught finance at the University of Canberra for three years (1991-94).
He came to Hong Kong to work at investment banks in 1994, mostly as head of China research and then deputy head of investment bank at UBS. In 2006-08, as C.O.O., he ran a Hong Kong-listed state-owned enterprise, Shenzhen Investment (694.HK). He has been published at FT, New York Times, SCMP, The Economist and Bloomberg. 

Ms. May Yan
Managing Director of Research

May Yan is a Managing Director and leads UBS equity research coverage of the Greater China Financials and Fintech sector since 2017. May has been consistently ranked as top research equity analyst on the street. In the most recent 2020 Asia Institutional Investor (II) survey, her bank team ranked no. 3 and as an individual analyst she ranked no.2. In the 2019 China II, her team ranked as runner-up overall and second place for the overseas category.
