Safer Internet Forum 2016 Register Today!

Safer Internet Forum (SIF) is a key annual international conference in Europe where policy makers, researchers, law enforcement bodies, youth, parents and carers, teachers, NGOs, industry representatives, experts and other relevant actors come together to discuss the latest trends, risks and solutions related to child online safety.

Join us for SIF 2016, where we, along with key experts and stakeholders from Europe and beyond, will consider how we can ‘be the change’ and create principles, policies and practices for a better internet. This one-day event will take place at Forum Geesseknäppchen in Luxembourg on 24 November 2016. Registration will close on 10 November 2016.



STEM Alliance concludes its Back to School campaign

STEM Alliance is very thankful to all the schools, companies, policy-makers, and international organisations that supported the Back to School campaign on 26 September - 7 October! Through the activity of 105 supporters on Thunderclap, the news of the campaign managed to reach a total of 301,679 people on social media. Many of them actively participated in the online events organised by the initiative, such as a community of practice on IT skills and coding and a webinar with experts from Texas Instruments on careers to shape the future of technology. For educators who still want to be involved, the "All-STEM, All-Stars" competition is still open until 28 February 2017.

If you are responsible for managing your school network, applications or services or coordinate ICT in your school, supporting colleagues in their use of technology, enroll in the Administering School ICT infrastructure: developing your knowledge and skills course starting on 28 November. Remember, all courses are entirely free, flexible and offer you a digital certificate and digital badges after completion.

Future Classroom Lab 2017 training programme
Thousands of teachers have already taken part in  the teacher training courses in our innovative learning environment, the Future Classroom Lab. Would you like to be one of the future participants? The Future Classroom Lab 2017 training programme has just been published. To cover the participation fee, schools can apply Erasmus+ funding through the call that is open until 2 February 2017.



MOOCs: Raising awareness about the situation of newly arrived migrants and integrating newly arrived migrants in schools
Do your students ask you about the situation of newly arrived migrants in Europe? Do you wish to learn yourself more about this topic and how to address it in the classroom? Then join this new course to get insights about migration causes, journeys, rights and responsibilities of newly arrived migrants and to discuss concrete classroom activities. The course started on 31 October, but you can still join!

If you already have newly arrived migrant students in your classroom and you are wondering which pedagogical approaches are useful and how to help these students integrate in the school community, then join this new course which will begin on 28 November. In both courses you will exchange with teachers facing the same challenges and build a local support network of key contacts so even after the courses end, you will have all the support you need!.

The next edition of the BIK bulletin will be issued in December 2016, just before the Christmas break, with a special focus on online advertising and the commercialisation of children and young people online. Safer Internet Day 2017 – ‘Be the change’ with us!
Safer Internet Day (SID) is organised by the Insafe network of Safer Internet Centres (SICs) in February of each year to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially among children and young people across the globe. Safer Internet Day 2017 will be celebrated on Tuesday, 7 February 2017 with a theme of 'Be the change: Unite for a better internet’. We invite you to already start planning your actions, and tell us how you plan to ‘be the change’. Register your support for SID now!



The Responsible Research and Innovation Toolkit goes international!
Seven months after its launch, the Responsible Research and Innovation Toolkit is available in its  final version in 18 languages. New features consist of a revamped Self-Reflection Tool, 28 "how-tos" as well as additional training and communication resources. Additionally, the whole RRI Tools team is getting ready for the project's final conference, which will take place in Brussels, on 21-22 November. The event will be an excellent occasion to discuss the implementation and evolution of Responsible Research and Innovation in the future.

Presented in 23 European languages, the School Education Gateway is a single point of entry for teachers, school leaders, policy makers, experts and other professionals in the school education field. Please take a moment to answer this survey, which is available in a choice of 23 languages and will be open until 30 November.

Innovation is usually defined as a new idea, or a new method. When it comes to education the approach to innovation is in terms of school development and improvement, appropriate to the needs of learners. Erasmus+ call for proposals is open – here is how to make the most of it
The call for proposals under Erasmus+ 2017 funding has been just published with a €300 million budget increase. Prepare your Erasmus+ application with the help of the School Education Gateway Erasmus+ Opportunities Tools! Use the Course Catalogue to find a teacher training course or the Mobility Opportunities to find a teaching assignment and submit your application under Key Action 1 - until 2 February 2017. If you prefer to submit a Strategic Partnership proposal under Key Action 2, the Strategic Partnerships tool is just for you!



Europeana DSI2 workshop 1 coming up in November
Europeana DSI2 project is organizing its first face-to-face workshop with 20 pilot teachers from across ten different European countries on 28 – 29 November 2016 in the Future Classroom Lab, European Schoolnet. During the workshop, participating teachers will receive an in-depth introduction to the Future Classroom Toolkit, a set of resources and tools that help teachers to design learning Scenarios and innovate their classroom practices.
